For information on schedules, routes, and maps visit MBTA.com.

Students may purchase discounted semester MBTA passes through the School. Passes allow you to travel as much and as often as you like for a fixed price. Please contact the Business Office for information or download the information sheet and order form
The deadline to sign up for discounted passes for Fall 2011 was August 4, 2011.

If you plan to use public transportation, it is still advisable for you to purchase a Monthly LinkPass for $59, which allows you unlimited travel on Subway and Local Bus. Purchase these passes on a plastic Charlie Card at ticketing machines located in most MBTA stations.

We generally recommend public transportation for getting around the city because on-street parking can be difficult to find and parking garages are expensive.
Students who have registered and insured their vehicle in Massachusetts and live in the Fenway, Mission Hill, or other area neighborhoods may obtain a resident parking permit from Boston City Hall.

For students who choose to drive to the School, discounted parking rates are available in the Museum of Fine Arts parking garage.

MFA Parking Garage Rates & Hours:

Student Parking Rate: $14/day

Garage hours:

Monday - Friday: 5:15 am to 10:30 pm

Saturday & Sunday: 5:15 am to 6 pm

When there are MFA events the garage stays open until 10:30pm.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Closing hours will be strictly followed; vehicles parked in the garage after closing will remain in the facility and a second day of parking will be charged.

Museum School students receive discounted membership rates with Zipcar, Boston’s car sharing service. Zipcar provides “wheels when you want them” at low hourly and daily rates – perfect for that trip to Home Depot, the beach, or any where you want to go. The SMFA Zipcar is located in the Mission Hill Building parking lot and can be reserved by the hour or by the day. There are also Zipcars located at the MFA, the Artists' Residence Hall, throughout the city, and around the country.

The School provides bicycle racks for students who choose to commute to school by bike. Bikes are not allowed in the building at any time.

Museum School has an active community of bike enthusiasts - affectionately known as BARF (Bikes Are Really Fun). Keep an eye out for meetings, events, resources, workshops, and rides.

Bike sharing comes to Boston! New Balance Hubway is your Boston bike sharing system. Launched in Boston in July 2011 with 61 stations and 600 bicycles, with an eye towards expanding into Boston neighborhoods and surrounding communities, New Balance Hubway provides you with an accessible and green transit option.

The Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition promotes a bicycle-friendly environment and encourages bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation. Check out MassBikes for great information and resources about biking in and around Boston.

The City of Boston’s Stolen Bike Alert program makes reporting stolen bikes easier and increases the chances of finding your stolen bike by giving you a larger network of search parties. When you report a stolen bike, an alert is sent to the police, local bike shops, hospital and school security, and everyone who follows on Twitter or Facebook. All of these people will be on the look-out for your bike and the city will instantaneously notify the police as updates are received on your stolen bike.
